  20. eugene jaleski the banks report all-time record earnings and whine and snivel about needing even more greed. The whores we get to elect every 2 years are obscene in their open corruption, daring the American people to do anything about it. Currently we have a choice between 'A' and 'A'. We soooo need a new electoral system.

  21. Treed @Janet - the Constitution is a living document - it's been changed many times (as it should be - we're not going back to 3/5ths people, are we?) The Founder's could not have imagined the ways that the process has been hijacked - we need change to take it back...

  24. Gina Raggette Then and only then will there be fair competition by the banks for our business and we will all get better rates and returns on our deposits. Not a bunch of criminals getting together to plan and set rates so they can continue to screw us over.

  25. Gina Raggette Are you kidding? Do the banks see themselves as reasonable while still trying to bury the working class in debt and poverty by trying to charge a fee for our own money when we use our own debit cards? Well, good luck with that. I stand by my previous statement and hope that one day it happens.

  27. Janet Lawrence Thomas it appears that I disagreed with you on another topic. I agree that we need to take corporate money out of the campaigns. They should all be given the same amount and then they would have to prove they could manage what was given. No more favors! Money should not control who wins!

  35. Janet Lawrence Some of us are fighting on many different battle fields David. One can only be responsible for what they are willing to do or give. The rest is up to God. Oh no! I said the G word. Yes, I am a believer. :) I'm glad you keep coming back and posting though. It gives me something new to ponder and research.

  40. Dylan Mayer I think we do need less Federal government in our lives. State and especially local governments should have more power on most social, economic, educational, and other issues.

  43. Dylan Mayer I think we should be somewhat similar to Australia; everyone should be required to vote, however an option should be "no candidate" so if you still want to refrain from choosing a candidate you still can.

  45. Deanna Hayes It's a fine line between paperwork and freedom. Requiring a citizen to register not to vote still allows a choice about whether to vote or not, but it requires responsibility. It is a liberal perspective but when you factor in corporations and the electoral college, it's not a democracy anymore.

  46. David Schwartz The lack of discussion here is really disconcerting...if this represents our collective energies for 2012, we're sunk.

  47. David Schwartz How would you do that without infringing on individual rights? People have as much right not to vote as to vote, right? They might be acting against their own best interests but it's no crime yet to be dumb.

  48. Deanna Hayes The question that resonates with me is, "How do you get people to vote?". The only answer I've heard that makes real sense is to make the process more difficult to not vote than to vote.
